Rev. Robert W. Blankenship
Rev. Blankenship was called to serve as the Pastor at Glade Spring Baptist Church on March 1, 2015. Rev. Blankenship was Ordained as a Pastor in March, 2014 and prior to coming to Glade Spring Baptist Church, he served as Interim Pastor at the Wytheville Cowboy Church and as Supply Pastor at Wytheville Baptist Church, both in Wytheville, VA. Prior to being called into the ministry in 2010, Robert served in various leadership positions in several churches, including Chair of Deacons, Deacon, Men’s Director, and Sunday School Teacher, and he is a former member of the Gideon’s International. Robert spent several years as a law enforcement officer in Tazewell and Russell Counties, VA, and most of the balance of his professional life in sales.
Robert and his wife, Vivian, have been married for 35 years and are the parents of 4 children and the grandparents of 6 grandchildren. Robert is originally from Tazewell County, VA and his wife, Vivian, is originally from Russell County, VA. Prior to moving to Glade Spring, they also lived in Lebanon, VA, Richmond, VA, Charlottesville, VA, and Max Meadows, VA.
Robert holds an Associate in Arts and Sciences degree in Business Administration from Southwest Virginia Community College in Richlands, VA, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. Robert is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Christian Ministries (Pastoral Ministries) from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.
During his spare time, Robert can be found fishing, hunting, playing a round of golf, or at most functions involving his grandchildren.
